Summary
In 2013, a report by the Secretary-General drew on contributions made by an interactive dialogue of the General Assembly. The report calls for nature to be placed at the core of sustainable development. The report also recommends that member states invite the Harmony with Nature Knowledge Network to to further advance the conceptualization of a new development paradigm that reflects the principles, drivers, and values of living in harmony with nature; encourage universities and research facilities to further advance all contemporary understanding of economics; recognize and guide care for nature and the fundamental interconnections between humanity and nature; support indigenous cultures already living in harmony with the Earth; and promote broader measures of economic, social and environmental progress in policymaking.
