Summary
In 2018, the organization Earth Trusteeship created The Hague Principles for a Universal Declaration on Responsibilities for Human Rights and Earth Trusteeship with the goal for the UN to adopt such a measure in the future. The document lists three principles: responsibilities for Earth, responsibilities within the community of life, and responsibilities for human rights. It also recognized that responsibilities for rights of nature are grounded in the intrinsic values of nature and all living beings. The UN has not adopted the principles at the time of this summary.
