Summary

In 2016, an interdisciplinary group of experts at an IUCN WCEL Ethics Specialist Group Workshop wrote the Olso Manifesto for Ecological Law and Governance. The Olso Manifesto emphasizes the need to seek out and implement alternatives to modern Western law in environmental law. The writers instead suggest ecological law rooted in ecocentric jurisprudence. It suggests a working group, a website, an international conference, and brainstorming for new research and higher education projects.
