Summary
In 2014, residents of Mendocino County, California adopted a county bill of rights banning hydraulic fracturing, directional and horizontal drilling, and waste injection wells in the county in order to achieve clean water, air and soil as well as freedom from chemical trespass. The measure recognizes the right to community self-government, clean water, air, and soil, and freedom from chemical trespass. The measure also recognized rights of nature and is still in effect.
