Summary
A report by the UN Secretary General on the dialogue, presentations, and collaboration that occurred during the 2022 interactive dialogue on Harmony with Nature to commemorate International Mother Earth Day. This report recognizes global advances in Earth jurisprudence—particularly the rights of Nature and ecological economics—as well as actions for living in Harmony with Nature, and efforts by nations to promote a new narrative that prioritizes a sustainable regenerative world “in which human rights go hand in hand with the rights of Nature, and sustainable development is reframed to ensure planetary health and the well-being of future generations”, also referred to as advancing a paradigm shift (1). This report demonstrates that the interactive dialogue contained an emphasis on how law, economics, and all institutions of human society must be nested within Nature (1).
