Summary

In 2015, the Municipality of São Paulo in Brazil created a draft amendment that would promote or develop environmental policies and recognized that nature has intrinsic rights to life and to the maintenance of its ecosystem processes. The amendment also recognizes interdependence with a dignified life for people within the municipality with the objective of achieving sustainability in the city. The amendment was adopted in 2018.
