Summary
In 2016, Cordova Apolo Isabel Maria filed for precautionary measures for the protection of the rights of nature due to environmental damage in the city of Alamor, Puyango canton, Loja province caused by the San Francisco Recreation Center. The Recreational Center Architectural began a project to strengthen the Sports Facilities of the San Francisco Recreation Complex with heavy machinery of the Municipal Government of Puyango. The activity damaged the upper part of the hill of the canton, causing harm to the environment, trees, and rocks and contaminating the streams of water that are used downstream for human consumption. The court granted the precautionary measures, noting that the actions may be a violation of rights of nature. The court ordered the suspension of the movement of land and other related work within the San Francisco Recreation Center. The order was complied with and the precautionary measures were later revoked.
