Summary

On November 15, 2017, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights released an advisory opinion refering to rights of nature as a phenomenon of environmental protection at the judicial but also constitutional level. It also mentions the importance of indigenous peoples in the defense of the environment. At this point, the court establishes the important connection between human rights, environmental protection, and sustainable development.
