Summary

In 2019, the Third Court of Execution of Sentences and Security Measures of Cali, through an action for protection (acción de tutela) filed by the citizen Roberto Rodriguez Zamudio, declared the Pance River is a subject with rights. It came to this decision because of the existing pollution in the river ecosystem, Likewise, it recognizes “future generations as subjects of rights of special protection and as such the protection of their fundamental rights to clean water of the Pance River is granted in their favor.”
