Position Statement

This page identifies initiatives that express ecological jurisprudence through a formal, non-binding statement or recommendation issued by a government entity (such as a ministry, agency, legislative body, or government official) or an intergovernmental organization (such as the UN or IUCN). Position statements arise through an administrative or institutional process. They do not create new law or policy. Instead, they emerge when a submission or procedural trigger prompts a formal institutional response. Position statements are non-binding, process-based soft law instruments that signal political will or institutional alignment with ecological jurisprudence. Position statements articulate normative commitments, values, or interpretive positions that may inform future policy development, administrative decisions, or legal action.
