Summary

In 2020, a report by the Secretary-General outlines “hopeful advances on Earth jurisprudence, with a focus on ecological economics and Earth-centred law, rooted in non-anthropocentric teachings.” The report outlines various initiatives towards “harmony with nature” made in the second half of 2019 and the first half of 2020. It concludes by giving the UN the responsibility of an Earth-centered transition and noting “a unique opportunity to build back better together” after the Covid-19 pandemic.
