Summary

The Secretary-General submitted a report on the inclusive and interactive dialogue on Harmony with Nature Harmony convened in April 2015 to commemorate International Mother Earth Day. The report of the Secretary General focuses on the relationship between humanity and nature, and provides an exploration of ways to achieve the sustainable development goals, including addressing climate change in the post 2015 development agenda through Harmony with Nature, as was reflected in the interactive dialogue in April 2015.

The report said panelists in the dialogue “described promising approaches, trends and achievements, many of them initiated or promoted by the members of the Harmony with Nature Knowledge Network…” The report concludes by noting that “Nature needs to exist, flourish and thrive, as we humans do, and we must learn to coexist in a healthy, supportive, diverse and harmonious condition.” The report then gives a series of recommendations, including recommendations to consider the harmony with nature approach outlined in the report, to invite the Harmony with Nature Knowledge Network to advance the conceptualization of sustainable living in harmony with nature, and to showcase support for the development of holistic and integrated approaches to sustainable living in harmony with nature.
