Summary

In 2010, the UN Secretary-General submitted a report for the consideration of the General Assembly. The report “addresses how sustainable development approaches and initiatives have allowed communities gradually to reconnect with the Earth.” The report’s conclusion emphasizes the philosophy of holism, as it is based on an understanding that all things are interconnected. Th report then gives a series of recommendations as to how they can promote harmony with nature. These ways include advancements in education and communication for children and rural areas, increased access to cross-disciplinary work and information, and briefings from experts and representatives.
