Summary

In 2020, Nez Perce Tribe leaders passed a resolution recognizing the rights of Snake River and giving it legal personhood. The resolution cites a need to protect the river’s salmon populations from water pollution, over-diversion, and damming. The resolution backed an Idaho Congressman’s plan to breach four dams on the Snake River.
