Summary

In 2020, citizen Luis Miguel Llorente Altamiranda filed a lawsuit against the Colombian State for the protection of the Salamanca Island Parkway due to the presence of recurrent fires affecting the flora and fauna of the ecosystem. The Colombian Supreme Court of Justice ultimately granted legal status to the parkway and ordered state entities to develop an emergency plan for its restoration.
