Summary

In 2019, due to the presence of contaminant minerals in the water of the City of Armenia, the administrative court of Quindio decided to grant the Quindio River, which crosses the city of Armenia, the status of subject of rights. The Governor of the Department of Quindio is its legal representative. The Court also recognized the collective rights of the inhabitants of the Municipality of Armenia to enjoy a healthy environment, the existence of ecological balance, and the rational management and use of natural resources.
