Summary

In 2019, a Regional Decree by the Gobernación de Nariño (government at the regional level in Colombia) promotes the respect, protection, conservation and restoration of all the region’s strategic ecosystems, establishing them as rights holders and subjects of protection. The Sub-Secretary of Environment and Sustainable Development of Nariño will formulate a strategic plan for its fulfillment, in collaboration with representatives of indigenous communities, Afro-Colombian communities, universities, NGOs, and others.
