Summary
On June 11, 2024, the GroenLinks party council members submitted a motion on ‘Rights for Nature’ that requested the Board of Mayor and Aldermen to investigate the legal and practical feasibility of granting legal personality to nature in the municipality of Beekdaelen. The aim was for Beekdaelen’s environmental vision to include recognition that nature in all its life forms has rights and that its interests must be represented. The motion also requests that the results and progress of the investigation be shared in the dossier periodically with the municipal council. The investigation into the implementation of rights for nature in Beekdaelen must involve all relevant social organizations, local experts and other stakeholders in this research.
This motion was withdrawn.
