Summary

In 2013, the court of the Pedro Moncayo canton granted precautionary measures suspending activities while at the San Luis Quarry. The court said that the defendants were mining without regards to rights of nature because their operations are throwing rocks, earth, and waste material, including plastic and glass bottles that especially damage the river Granobles, also known as Rio Blanco. In an appeal, the plaintiffs were denied an extension of the precautionary measures, and the court later revoked the precautionary measures altogether.
