Summary
In 2016, residents of Mason, New Hampshire submitted a community rights-based ordinance declaring the town’s right to a sustainable energy future. The ordinance also recognized the right to access water, pure water, clean air, peaceful enjoyment of home, scenic preservation, local community self-government, and assert the right to self-government. The ordinance also recognizes rights of ecosystems to exist, flourish, and naturally evolve. However, the ordinance was tabled at a town meeting and never voted on.
