Summary
In 2010, CELDF and residents asked the supervisors of Lehman Township, Pennsylvania if they would consider holding a meeting for an ordinance that would protect the township and its natural water systems from gas extraction. The ordinance gives residents the right to local self-government, a healthy environment, and water. Natural communities and ecosystems also have the right to water and the right to exist and flourish. The ordinance also would have recognized the rights of nature. However, supervisors refused to hold a meeting.
