Summary

In April 2025, the River Wye Catchment Nutrient Management Board (NMB) appointed ecologist Louise Bodnar as the Voice of the River Wye. The role of the Voice of the River is to influence decisions and actions that have an impact directly or indirectly upon the river. The Voice of the River is a voting board member for two years, after which it will be reviewed. The role can be terminated in the event of unresolvable conflict.

The Nutrient Management Board is a cross-border, locally-led partnership working to address high nutrient levels (mainly phosphorus) affecting the River Wye Special Area of Conservation. While it is a committee within the Herefordshire Council, the NMB does not have any formal powers and cannot make any legally binding decisions. The Nutrient Management Board aims to provide a forum for all stakeholders to influence, advise, and challenge those having an impact on the river.
