Summary

In 2021, the FL5.org drafted a constitutional amendment for the state of Florida recognizing that “Florida Iconic Species possess the legal right to exist, thrive, and evolve.” The proposed amendment then lists Florida Black Bear, Florida Panther, Manatee, Key Deer, Florida Scrub-Jay, Bald Eagle, Red-cockaded Woodpecker, Bottlenose Dolphin, Right Whale, and Marine Turtles as iconic species. At the time of this summary, the FL5.org and the Florida Rights of Nature Network are currently trying to get the proposed amendment on the ballot.
