Summary
Councilor Albert Doherty of the Donegal County Council in Ireland proposed a motion to explore how to incorporate rights of nature into policymaking within the county. The motion said rights of nature can help catalyze an innovative rethinking about how to create regenerative economies and make communities safer and more resilient. The motion suggests collaborating with civil society to explore what Rights of Nature means for the people and economies of the region and learn how it could be incorporated into decisions and objectives. The council passed the motion unanimously. The motion follows similar ones by Derry City and Strabane District Council.
