Summary

In 2020, two NGOs—Asociación Civil por la Justicia Ambiental and Foto Ecologista de Paraná—filed a class action lawsuit against the Province of Entre Ríos and the Municipality of Victoria City in the Argentinian Supreme Court. The plaintiffs asked the court to declare Paraná Delta a “subject with rights” and “an essential ecosystem for mitigation and adaptation to climate change.” The case is still pending.
