Summary

In 2017, the Bowling Green Climate Protectors charter amendment group submitted a ballot initiative to the city of Bowling Green in Ohio. The charter amendment declares “the people of the City of Bowling Green, and the natural communities and ecosystems in Bowling Green, possess the right to a healthy environment and livable climate.” The ordinance declares the right to a healthy environment and livable climate and the right of local community self-government. Although the initiative was placed on the ballot, it ultimately failed.
