Summary

In 2021, the Blue Mountains City Council announced that it will become the first council and government entity in Australia to incorporate rights of nature principles into its operations and practices, claiming that recognizing the importance of all life on Earth through rights of nature aligns with its 2035 Community Strategic Plan. The council will work with the Australian Earth Law Alliance to offer rights of nature workshops in the community.
