Summary
In 2000, Vietnam incorporated article 342 into its criminal codes, proclaiming those who commit “acts of ecocide or destroying the natural environment shall be sentenced to between ten years and twenty years of imprisonment, life imprisonment, or capital punishment.” However, a 2015 criminal code replaced Vietnam’s 1999 criminal code, eliminating any mention of ecocide.
