Summary

In 1994, Uzbekistan incorporated article 196 into its criminal codes, proclaiming “pollution or damage of land, water, or atmospheric air, resulting in mass disease incidence of people, death of animals, birds, or fish other grave consequences shall be punished…” However, a 2003 criminal code replaced Uzbekistan’s 1994 criminal code, eliminating any mention of ecocide.
